Government approves Big Society Bank
Under proposals submitted and agreed by Government the Big Society Bank will have about 40 employees and act as a ‘champion for social investment’ by providing events, data, research and links between investors and investees. It will also advise on and promote social investment to government and regulators, and promote best practice in areas such as “governance, finance, risk control, social performance metrics and the use of innovative financial instruments”. Baroness Newlove praises tenants for tackling ASB through neighbourhood agreement
Community leaders on a Liverpool estate have been praised by victims’ rights campaigner Helen Newlove for delivering real improvements aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour. Residents have worked with police, the council and housing association to develop a neighbourhood agreement which requires them to take responsibility for the behaviour of their family and visitors and report any incidents.
