Do you ’dig’ trees?

November 20, 2015 by sarah Leave a Comment

The Conservation Volunteers are working with OVO Energy to plant 157,000 trees in the UK during this bare root planting season and they have 40,000 FREE trees left for communities. The trees will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

There are two ways to get involved:

  • My Community Digs Trees – FREE community tree packs (each with 50 native trees) for distribution to community groups. Simply register your community group to receive a free tree planting pack –idt@tcv.org.uk
  • #IDigTrees – Or you can volunteer to take part in tree planting at a location near you – JOIN US

Credit Union product for university students

October 9, 2015 by sarah Leave a Comment

Hoot Credit Union has introduced credit union services to students at the University of Bolton.

The savings and loan product has been tailored to support mature students or students with families who may be in receipt of loan, grant or bursary plus salary or benefits to supplement income. In year 3 of study there is no grant or bursary available to students, so encouraging students to save in years 1 and 2 to build up a pot of savings would help to reduce the worry and stress about completing their studies.

5th – 20th September marks the third Community Energy Fortnight #CEF

August 27, 2015 by sarah Leave a Comment

The #CEF is about finding out how community energy could benefit your local area. From tours of hydro plants and wind farms, to workshops on generating and saving energy, the Fortnight will run right across the UK.

The Community Energy Coalition (CEC) was formed in 2011 and its aim is to ignite an energy revolution which places communities at its heart and strives for a clean, affordable and secure energy system for all. They help communities across the UK to own, generate and save energy together.
