In the North Neighbourhood Area of Milton Keynes, Neighbourhood Manager Craig Kench and his team have begun rolling out a programme of “Enviro-Days”. These “Enviro-Days” involve Milton Keynes Council working with local partners such as parish/town councils, businesses, Thames Valley Police and residents to improve an area through activities such as litter clearance, painting and planting.
They have so far run 3 “Enviro-Days” in some of the more deprived areas in North Milton Keynes, engaging with many residents and collecting nearly 100 bags of rubbish and weeds.
Neighbourhood Manager, Craig Kench said “These days are a great way for the neighbourhood teams to get involved with the local communities, to make connections and engage people in their neighbourhoods. It also allows residents to bring issues to our attention and discuss with us any concerns they may have.”
Incorporated with the “Enviro-Days” there has also been work to renovate local play areas.
The other Neighbourhood Teams will all be arranging “Enviro-Days” in their areas with the hope that these will become more regular and eventually community led days addressing community priorities but supported by the various agencies.
